UC Berkeley – BA in Film Studies
Posted on June 1, 2002
My experience at UC Berkeley gave me a grounding in a historical and theoretical perspective on film. Though the Film Studies program was not practice-based at the time, my professors were very supportive of my own efforts to learn filmmaking skills. Through research and experimentation, I learned to produce work that related directly (though not didactically) to my courses of study, and that was screened in programs at the Pacific Film Archive and won awards and recognitions.
I also had incredible learning opportunities as a curatorial intern at the Pacific Film Archive where I organized shows of student works, and also worked as an ArtsBridge Scholar with local high school students to help them curate and organize their own festival of high school film projects.
