ISEA Istanbul, 2011
Posted on October 2, 2011
In September of 2011 I presented a paper titled “You Hold the Camera Now: An Action Research Case Study of Pre-kindergarten Transmedia Narrative Design” at the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) in Istanbul, Turkey.
The conference gave me an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with locative media design, learn about innovative research and practice in areas of procedural art, tangible computing, archivist issues for new media art and more. I was particularly influenced by Sean Cubitt’s keynote talk, “Time to Live”, in which he called on media artists and scholars to interrogate with great detail and specificity the tools of digital media making and the industrial and political forces that influence their development, potentials and limitations as vehicles for individual and cultural expression.
