IML 102: Digital Studies Studio

Posted on December 15, 2013

In Fall 2013 I co-taught the inaugural offering of IML 102: Digital Studies Studio with Steve Anderson. This 4-unit course was a core requirement for the first cohort of students admitted to the Bachelor of Arts of Media Arts + Practice degree program. Professor Anderson and I designed the course to be participatory and focused on student-driven project-based learning. We balanced theory and practice while emphasizing critical thinking and laying a solid foundation in the theories of visual culture and the practices of cinematic arts.

Students worked collaboratively through a series of critically constructed media projects across multiple modalities including still images, sound, video and interactivity design.
