Effat University – Visual Digital Production Program Development
Posted on December 11, 2013
In 2013, I worked with my colleagues from the Media Arts + Practice Division (then IML) to develop the Visual Digital Production Program at Effat University in Saudi Arabia. Effat Univeristy, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is a university for women that endeavors to offer a forward-looking range of studies for its students within a culture steeped in tradition. MA+P chair Holly Willis enlisted myself and my colleague Michael Bodie to compose an initial proposal for our vision of what a state-of-the art program in media production would look like for Effat University, drawing on school’s expertise in media production, interactive design and a scholarly approach to visual culture. After an enthusiastic reception of our initial proposal, USC entered into an official partnership with Effat University in a signing ceremony recounted here.
After the signing, I worked closely with the MA+P team to further develop the overall vision for the program. I then designed and wrote syllabi for five lower and upper division courses of study within the 4-year Visual Digital Production BA program for Effat University.
