DML Conference, 2012
Posted on April 2, 2012
I gave a talk at the DML 2012 conference in San Francisco, California, as part of a panel titled “Playful interventions: libraries, college access, after school and media arts.”
My talk was about our project, The Junior AV Club, and our research into how media and computing technologies such as iPad tablet devices can be used as effective learning tools for early childhood education when deployed within a participatory pedagogical framework focused on enhancing computational and traditional literacies.
I was excited by the interest and discussion I heard at DML around topics of alternative educational models and early childhood learning. My experience at the conference has definitely provided an inspirational boost as well as an enhanced perspective on the field and how I hope to contribute to its development as a researcher and practitioner of media arts and education.
