Digital Storytelling and Playcentric Learning
Innovative Educational Strategies for Children With Special Needs
November 30 – December 2, 2010
A collaboration between the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs and the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
As part of a joint team from IML and the Interactive Media Division, lead by Holly Willis and Marientina Gotsis, I collaborated in the organization of this conference and workshop, contributing to the design of team presentations, and designing and leading workshops in digital storytelling.
Through our conversations and interactions with teachers, parents and expert staff at the Shafallah Center, we gained insight into how digital storytelling and playcentric learning could serve as the basis for innovative therapeutic and educational tools for children with special needs, particular those with autism spectrum disorders.
